Being laid and being laid off probably entertains the same emotion but who the hell cares! You know you asked for it! Both these experiences have their own unique pros and cons. The only difference is when you are in the process of getting laid you have almost planned it out but when you get laid off its sudden (that's when you feel its not fair). Similar to getting a call a few days after informing you the one you laid is pregnant! That's when you are not depressed you are all guns blazing. Action!! Then why are you depressed when you lose a job. It is nothing but your ego. It is not that you cant get a new job. Just imagine the time when you landed your first job, Hilarious isn't it? when you think about it now. But you were ecstatic then.
This is what I feel. We were getting here for two decades. And we knew it. Labor Arbitrage doesn't exist no more. From the call center to the software engineer, we worshiped them without understanding what they were actually contributing. The villagers thought their only way of changing gears was to get their children to learn English and get employed in a call center. A Software Engineer probably went a little further a got married - (Dosa Chutney for breakfast a given and the periodic temple visits).
Today the game has changed. The same companies that promised you the world cant survive because of the very promises they made,
